The Horse-A-Rama Club
Rules and Regulations
All classes held at The Horse-A-Rama Club will be judged according to The AQHA Handbook Rules, unless otherwise outlined in this listing. The Judge does have final authority on all matters within the show ring. The Horse-A-Rama Directors and Executive will have AQHA Handbook’s available and will act as advisors to the Judge. The Horse-A-Rama Executive does have final authority in all matters outside the ring. Questions regarding Horse-A-Rama Rules or AQHA Handbook should be directed towards the Executive.
General Rules
1.) Insurance- Proof of LIABILITY Insurance must accompany entry forms at the first show in which an exhibitor competes. You will NOT be able to compete without providing proof of Liability Insurance.
2.) Insurance Waiver Form: In addition to Proof of Liability Insurance, each exhibitor is required to sign an “Equestrian Activities Waiver and Release of Liability Form” from the Horse-A-Rama Club’s Insurance provider. If an exhibitor is under the age of 18, then the Parent or Legal Guardian MUST sign.
3.) Entries are to be paid in full on the day of the show. Entries can be made up to one full class before the newly entered class. Please allow lots of time for our show secretary!
4.) Each horse and rider combination MUST have a separate entry form AND exhibitor number. NO EXCEPTIONS.
5.) The age for divisions is calculated as of January 1st of the current year. An exhibitor may move UP an age division, but may not go back down. (ie: a youth exhibitor may show in adult, but may not go back to youth classes)
6.) Stallions must be shown by exhibitors over the age of 18.
7.) Spurs and crops are permitted, however excessive use of either will result in disqualification.
8.) Exhibitors who wish to wear protective head gear in western classes will not be penalized. Western chaps are welcomed, but not required.
9.) The announcer’s booth must be notified of any tack changes prior to the class.
10.) Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Any exhibitor found to be impaired will be excused from the show ring and will be suspended from competition for the remainder of the day.
Performance Events
11.) Novice Horse may be any age- once a Novice Horse has made the transition to enter a loping class at Horse-A-Rama Club Show, they are no longer considered Novice.
12.) Novice Rider 14 and Up is for competitors age 14 and over. Once a Novice Rider has made the transition to enter a loping class at Horse-A-Rama Club Show, they are no longer considered Novice
13.) The age divisions are; Youth 13 & Under, Youth 14-18, Adult 19 & Over, Novice Rider 14 & Up, Walk & Jog/Trot 13 & Under, and Open.
14.) To qualify for the “All Around Horse and Rider Award” exhibitors must show in at least two shows, and enter at least twice in either Reining, Hunter Hack or Pleasure Driving.
15.) Any youth 13 & Under and Novice Riders may ride two handed…with any bit.
16.) Junior Horse is for horses under the age of five- Senior horses are five and up.
17.) Any age rider may use two hands but must ride in a snaffle bit. If and exhibitor is riding one handed they must be using a shank type western bit. With the exception of rule 15 regarding Youth 13 and Under and Novice.
Speed Events
18.) In order to qualify for the “All Around Horse and Rider” award the horse and rider team must participate in at least three shows.
19.) In order to qualify fo any year-end award a single horse/Rider combination must compete in at least three of our four club shows.
